Milestone Technology Day Romania 2025 took place today at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, bringing together over 120 industry experts, technology leaders, integration partners, and end-users.
Organized by Milestone Systems, the event served as a key platform for exploring the latest innovations in Video Management Systems (VMS), intelligent video analytics, Cloud-based video solutions (VSaaS), and the impact of emerging technologies like Generative AI (GenAI) on the physical security industry.
Borislava Kenarova, Regional Sales Manager for Eastern Europe, CIS and Israel, opened the event, highlighting the dynamic Romanian market and the growing impact of smart video solutions. “Milestone Technology Day Romania 2025 was an essential platform for industry professionals to explore the latest advances in video technology. Romania is a rapidly growing market where intelligent video solutions have a significant impact. This event facilitated knowledge exchange, fostered collaboration, and supported the adoption of innovative technologies across the region,” stated Borislava Kenarova.
VMS as a Strategic Asset For Prediction, Optimization, And Business Intelligence
In her keynote, Michal Hillel, Sales Director at Milestone Systems, emphasized the shift from video as a surveillance tool to a strategic asset for prediction, optimization, and business intelligence. She showcased Milestone’s vision and integrated portfolio, including the XProtect VMS, BriefCam video analytics, and Arcules VSaaS – tailored to meet market trends such as AI, cloud scalability, and responsible technology.
Addressing the Romanian integrators and end-customers, Harel Benbenisti, Analytics Business Manager, stressed Return on Investment (ROI) in video tech, demonstrating how AI-driven video analytics can transform security departments from cost centers into strategic business contributors – delivering measurable ROI in under a year with real-world use cases in operations, safety, investigations, and business insights.
Martyn Beech, VSaaS Solution Engineer, explored the rapid adoption of cloud and hybrid deployments, detailing the exponential growth of the VSaaS market and key benefits like scalability, cost efficiency, integrated security, and continuous innovation. Milestone’s offerings – from pure-cloud (Arcules) to hybrid architectures combining XProtect with cloud benefits – cater to diverse deployment needs.
Generative AI in Physical Security
Barry Norton, Fellow in Emerging Products, discussed the transformative potential of Generative AI in Physical Security, highlighting how advanced AI models (LLMs, VLMs) can interpret and generate insights from video data. He emphasized responsible AI development through techniques like RAG and fine-tuning, spotlighting initiatives such as Project Hafnia (an ethical AI training ecosystem) and the acquisition of Brighter.ai, a company specializing in advanced video anonymization.
The event featured a successful case study from Bulgaria’s “twin airports” and a panel titled “How to Build a Future-Proof VMS Architecture,” with experts from Dell EMC, Milestone, and OptiComm.AI discussing scalability, cybersecurity, and AI/Cloud integration challenges.
An interactive expo area complemented the sessions, with technology partners showcasing integrated solutions and live demos – including AI-powered video interpretation, smart cameras, storage, and vertical-specific applications, underscoring the power of Milestone’s open platform.
The event reaffirmed the strong local interest in video innovation, attracting participants from sectors like retail, logistics, manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, smart cities, security, and technology.
